After completing the first four dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you'll gain access to quests in the Faron Wetlands. To reach this area, use Echoes to clear the waterfall located south of Lake Hylia, or you can climb across the treetops to the west. The main settlement, Scrubton, is situated in the far eastern part of the Wetlands.

In this vibrant region, players can embark on the Rain-Making Monster quest, which involves helping Zelda locate and return a Rain-Making Monster to the quest giver. Fortunately, the monster’s location is close to Scrubton, and you may have encountered the Echo necessary for this quest on your journey into the zone.

Starting the Rain-Making Monster Quest

You can initiate the Rain-Making Monster quest without any prerequisites, aside from completing the Hyrule Castle dungeon. If you explore the Faron Wetlands before finishing Hyrule Castle, you’ll notice that the Deku Scrubs offer unique dialogue but won’t provide any quests.

To begin, locate the Deku Scrub on the western side of Scrubton, found in the upper-right corner of the Faron Wetlands. This Deku Scrub stands on a wooden platform above two others who are engaged in their own separate Echoes of Wisdom side quests.

When you approach, the Deku Scrub will mention hearing a noise resembling that of a monster before the recent rainfall. At this point, Zelda is tasked with finding a “rain-making monster” somewhere in the Faron Wetlands. Look for the Deku Scrub on its own, marked with a speech bubble and a red exclamation point, indicating a side quest is available.

Locating the Rain-Making Monster in Echoes of Wisdom

If you've spent time in the Faron Wetlands prior to reaching Scrubton, you may have already encountered the rain-making monster, the Drippitune, which is required for this quest. This blue frog is commonly found throughout the Wetlands, and you’ll know one is nearby if it’s raining and you hear a distinctive croaking sound.

The nearest Drippitune to Scrubton is located just to the west. To find it, head southwest from the village, then loop northwest until you discover the Drippitune perched on a small ledge. It will be calling for rain almost directly west of where the quest begins. Defeat the Drippitune to learn its Echo, and then return to the Deku Scrub in Scrubton.

To complete the Rain-Making Monster quest, summon the Drippitune right in front of the Deku Scrub. A cutscene will play, concluding the quest.

Rewards for Completing the Rain-Making Monster Quest

Upon locating the Rain-Making Monster and bringing it back to Scrubton, Zelda will receive eight Electro Apples as a reward. These smooth ingredients are useful for crafting drinks that provide Electricity Proof, protecting against all electrical damage.

Be sure to save these Electro Apples as you continue to explore the Faron Wetlands and beyond. The Lightning Proof effect from certain Smoothie recipes is especially beneficial against electricity-based enemies, such as the recurring boss Smog from the “Let’s Play A Game” quest or the colossal electric Jellyfish in the “Zappy Shipwreck” quest.

With this guide, you’re now well-equipped to tackle the Rain-Making Monster quest and enjoy the rewards it offers in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom!
