Epic Games is making major adjustments to Fortnite’s battle pass system in Chapter 6, aiming to simplify how players unlock rewards. In this new system, Battle Stars and Festival Points will be phased out in favor of a single, straightforward progression based solely on XP.

Starting December 1, players can progress through the main Battle Pass, as well as the new Music Pass and Lego Pass, all at the same time by simply earning XP. This means that players will no longer need separate currencies and can focus entirely on leveling up to unlock rewards.

All Battle Passes Progress Simultaneously with XP, and Rewards Are Easier to Claim

In a recent blog post, Fortnite shared these upcoming changes for Chapter 6:

“Soon, Fortnite’s pass progression systems will change to reward players regardless of what they like to play,” reads the announcement. “By December 1, all passes in Fortnite will progress simultaneously by earning XP from playing any experience.”

In addition to merging the progression system, players will now have greater freedom in how they claim rewards. As they advance through pass tiers with XP, they’ll unlock pages of rewards, allowing them to choose items non-sequentially. And for those who want to keep things automatic, each pass can be set to auto-claim the next available reward.

As part of this shift, Fortnite will officially retire Festival Points on November 2, followed by Battle Stars and Studs on December 1. After these changes, players can unlock and claim rewards across all passes simply by accumulating XP.

Positive Reception from Fans

Many in the community are applauding these updates, seeing the new progression system as a welcome change that enhances convenience for players who enjoy multiple modes. Although these changes won’t impact current loot or rewards, fans can look forward to a smoother experience in the next season of Fortnite.

Mark your calendars for December 1, when Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 kicks off with this simplified battle pass system.
