Pokémon Unite offers fans a fresh way to enjoy the beloved franchise in a MOBA format. The game emphasizes both cooperative and competitive elements, making it an exhilarating experience for players. Dedicated trainers can engage in battle after battle, earning Medals that showcase their performance during matches. However, these Medals appear only as symbols on the results screen. This guide will delve into all the symbols in Pokémon Unite and what they represent.
It’s important to note that Medals are purely cosmetic and serve to highlight a trainer’s skill to both teammates and opponents. While many players might wish these Medals came with tangible rewards, like experience points for quicker leveling, that isn’t the case. Nevertheless, they provide valuable feedback, encouraging players to track their progress and improvement.
Updated on October 27, 2024: With the recent buffs to Darkrai, fans seeking a reliable Speedster can now leverage Darkrai's crowd control and aggressive capabilities—assuming they navigate its initial weaknesses and moderate Ultimate ability. Before aiming for the prestigious MVP slot, players should explore the various Medals they can earn throughout the match. Based on their actions and overall performance, Pokémon can receive accolades for their contributions in unique ways.
In Pokémon Unite, players can earn various Medals depending on their Pokémon's performance in battle. These Medals are awarded not only for fulfilling specific roles but also for excelling in particular combat aspects. Skilled trainers may earn multiple Medals in a single match, and MVPs in each role are recognized with special distinctions.
The MVP's score determines the color of their MVP Medal, reflecting their performance in a match. The score ranges for MVP Medals are as follows:
- Gold: 80+ MVP Score
- Silver: 70+ MVP Score
Badge Score Ranking
Similar to MVP Medals, Badges are ranked based on how often players meet specific criteria tied to gameplay mechanics or roles. The upper frame of each Badge displayed at the end of the match indicates its rank. Unlike the binary classification of MVP Scores, Badges are tiered:
- Gold: Highest count of a specific criterion
- Silver: Second-highest rank
- Bronze: Third-highest rank
- Score Badge: Awarded to players with the highest goal scores. The more points a player contributes to the team, the higher their Score Badge rank at the match's conclusion.
- KO Badge: This badge goes to players who achieve the most knockouts. Aggressive Pokémon are typically in pursuit of this Badge, as they are more likely to secure KOs during matches.
- Assist Badge: Given the nature of Pokémon Unite, where kill-stealing can be common, players using less aggressive Pokémon may find themselves gaining assists. By consistently assisting in KOs, players can earn the Assist Badge, making this a useful strategy for Speedsters and Supporters.
- Defense Badge: Also known as the Injury Badge, this is awarded to the Pokémon that absorbs the most damage during battles with other players, excluding encounters with Wild Pokémon. Typically pursued by Defenders, this badge reflects survivability in prolonged fights.
- Recovery Badge: While the Support role is often undervalued in RPGs or MOBAs, it shines in Pokémon Unite. Healers can significantly extend a team's effectiveness in combat, allowing for timely scoring opportunities. Players who consistently heal teammates earn the Recovery Badge, making it a highly sought-after accolade for Supporters.
A Welcome, Yet Missing Feature to Track Progress
Medals serve as a solid indicator of a player’s skill as a Pokémon Unite Trainer. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to view the total number of Medals a player has earned throughout their career.
That said, trainers who diligently climb the ranks are likely to reach the Great Rank and beyond more swiftly, especially as the game continually introduces new Pokémon with distinct playstyles across various roles.
