Black Ops 6 Zombies: A Guide to Researching Augments

The latest installment of Call of Duty Zombies has arrived with Black Ops 6, introducing a new way to enhance your gameplay through Augments. Exclusive to the Zombies mode, Augments allow players to permanently upgrade their Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades using Major and Minor Augments. However, the process of obtaining and researching these Augments isn’t always clearly outlined. To create the most effective loadout, players need to understand how to research Augments effectively. Here’s a breakdown of the research system in Black Ops 6.

Understanding Augments in Black Ops 6

When you enter the Zombies mode in Black Ops 6, navigate to the Weapons tab and select Augments to access the Augments page. Here, you can equip any Augments you’ve unlocked and choose the Research option to begin investigating new Augments that can be utilized in-game.

You can only research one item at a time, and this research applies to Perk-a-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades. Each category features six Augments to explore, divided into three Minor and three Major Augments. To unlock new Perk-a-Colas, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades for research, players must complete specific research tasks. So, how can you effectively complete these tasks?

Completing Research Tasks for Augments

To accomplish a research task, players need to select an Active Research task that corresponds to the desired Minor or Major Augments. Once that’s set, jump into a Zombies match. Augment Research functions similarly to XP; players can earn Augment Research XP by progressing through rounds, defeating zombies, and completing S.A.M. Trials. Notably, you’ll gain additional Augment Research XP by utilizing the Active Research you’ve selected. For example, if you’ve chosen Juggernog as your Active Research, make sure to have Juggernog active during your gameplay.

While there is no in-game feature to track your Research Augment progress directly, solo players can save and exit a Zombies match to check their progress. This allows you to switch your Active Research if needed before diving back into the action.
