In Diablo 4, each of the six classes features a distinct mechanic that unlocks as players progress. The Spiritborn class introduces the Spirit Hall, Sorcerers gain passive enhancements, Necromancers enhance their control over minions, Rogues have the ability to specialize, and Barbarians can master four equippable weapon slots.
The Druid class stands out with its Spirit Boons system, allowing players to choose enhancements inspired by four Spirits that require Offerings. To access this feature, players must complete a brief quest and collect Offerings to unlock various options. Essentially, this system provides Druids with an additional set of passive abilities to tailor their gameplay.
Updated October 23, 2024: In Diablo 4, the Spirit Boons feature is essential for customizing Druid builds beyond the standard skills, gear, and Paragon points. Druids have access to four types of Spirit Boons—the Eagle, Wolf, Deer, and Snake—each offering four distinct passive abilities that players can select as permanent enhancements.
Since the game’s launch, while the basic mechanics of Druid Spirit Offerings remain unchanged, many Spirit Boon skills have seen updates throughout the six seasons. This guide outlines the current stats and effects of each Spirit Boon as of Season 6.
The Spirit Boons system for Druids becomes available at level 15. Players will be directed to Túr Dulra, a Stronghold located in Scosglen. To gain access to Spirit abilities, you must complete a unique class quest titled "Spirits of the Lost Grove," which takes place entirely within Scosglen. Players need not worry about high-level enemies, as the area scales to match your level.
Upon clearing the stronghold and defeating the final boss, Baelgemoth, you will find a Druid named Ardeth among the returning townsfolk. He will guide you to free the Spirit Lord, whose spirit is trapped at a designated location in Scosglen. Upon reaching the Spirit Lord, a substantial deer, you will be tasked with retrieving its skull and returning it to Túr Dulra.
Make sure to mark Fainne, The Abandoned Grove, on your map and follow the minimap directions to reach it. Defeat the Goatmen inhabiting the Grove to collect the Spirit Lord's skull, then return to Ardeth in Túr Dulra to complete the Druid class quest and unlock access to Spirit Boons.
Starting at level 15, Druid Spirit Offerings will begin dropping from various monsters throughout Sanctuary, even if players haven't yet unlocked the system. Every enemy in Diablo 4 has a chance to drop these Offerings, making the best way to farm them simply by exploring and defeating foes. Spirit Offerings will remain in your inventory, even if the Spirit Boons system is not yet active, so feel free to collect them after reaching level 15.
In Túr Dulra, players can offer Spirit Offerings to four Spirits: the Deer, Wolf, Snake, and Eagle. Each Spirit has a set of four passives that can be unlocked through Offerings. The more Offerings given to a Spirit, the more passives become available. The Snake is the only exception, requiring 100 Spirit Offerings upfront to unlock its abilities.
Druids can select one passive from each Spirit for a total of four passives, with the option to select an additional one after unlocking all 16 Spirit Boons, bringing the total to five. Each Spirit can accept a maximum of 100 Offerings, with a new passive unlocked for every 25 given.
To unlock all passives and the fifth skill slot, a total of 400 Spirit Offerings is necessary. While this may seem high compared to other class requirements, players typically collect these in large clusters and can fully unlock the system by levels 40 to 50.
Despite significant updates for all classes since Diablo 4's launch—especially with the introduction of the Vessel of Hatred DLC—the Spirit Boon system retains its original mechanics. However, the specifics of each Spirit Boon’s stat boosts and effects have been refined. If you haven’t kept up with these changes, review the current effects of the Spirit Boons below to familiarize yourself with the system in Season 6 and the Vessel of Hatred.
