Overwatch 2 is set to introduce an exciting new Mythic weapon skin for Soldier: 76 in Season 13, with players getting a sneak peek in the update's promotional art. Titled Deliverance, this Mythic weapon skin is expected to make its official debut in mid-November.
The journey of Mythic weapon skins in Overwatch 2 began with Season 11, which featured the Bound Demon skin for Reinhardt. This was followed by the introduction of the Midnight Sun skin for Ana in Season 12. Continuing this trend, Season 13 will showcase a Mythic weapon skin for Soldier: 76, confirmed by a brief mention in the release blog.
Interestingly, players may have already caught a glimpse of this new skin without realizing it. The key art for Season 13 prominently features the Mythic Spellbinder Widowmaker, surrounded by various skins, including several from the My Hero Academia crossover. Soldier: 76 appears in the background, maintaining his default look but wielding what appears to be the extraordinary weapon that hints at Deliverance.
In previous seasons, Mythic weapon skins in Overwatch 2 have included four tiers of upgrades available for individual purchase, with the complete set priced at 80 Mythic Prisms, or approximately $40. The initial weapon typically showcases unique user interface elements and sounds. The second tier introduces reactive features—such as killstreak animations for Reinhardt and color changes based on damage or healing for Ana—along with more distinctive HUD options. The third tier adds a special flourish animation for the weapon, while the final tier includes a unique kill animation. It's reasonable to anticipate that Soldier: 76's weapon will follow a similar upgrade structure.
Both the Bound Demon and Midnight Sun skins were released during significant updates halfway through their respective seasons. If Deliverance follows suit, we can expect its arrival alongside the mid-season patch, likely scheduled for November 12 or 19.
Fans are buzzing with excitement over the upcoming Soldier: 76 Mythic weapon skin and are eager to see it in action. However, some have expressed confusion over a canister of liquid seemingly attached to the weapon's base, joking that it resembles a water gun.
Additionally, there are mixed feelings about the choice of damage heroes receiving both Mythic skins this season, particularly since Overwatch 2 has previously released Mythic skins for a tank and a healer. Many players voiced a desire for a different hero to receive the skin, as Soldier: 76 already has the color-changing Los Muertos weapon skin. Fortunately, players who feel unsatisfied can always save their Mythic Prisms for upcoming seasons and future releases.
