The developers of New World: Aeternum have confirmed that they are looking into crashing problems that have arisen with the release of the game's latest content update. This update introduced a special Halloween-themed event called Nightveil Hallow.

Originally launched in September 2021 as a PC-exclusive MMORPG, Amazon Games' New World immerses players in the mythical island of Aeternum. After being shipwrecked, players must navigate this supernatural landscape, gathering resources, crafting weapons, and battling enemies to survive. The game allows players to equip various deadly weapons and supernatural abilities, and it encourages cooperative PvP engagements.

Despite its compelling concept and engaging combat mechanics, New World has received mixed reviews on Steam. Many players have voiced concerns about the need for further enhancements in gameplay performance and endgame content. Three years post-launch on PC, the game expanded its reach with versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 15, 2024.

In response to the release of update 1.1.0 on October 21, the New World development team announced via Twitter that they are investigating increased user reports of game crashes. While this update introduced the Nightveil Hallow event and aimed to address several bugs—including those causing rendering issues and crashes during specific gameplay scenarios—persistent issues remain.

The community's response has been mixed. Players have shared a variety of feedback regarding New World's technical difficulties beyond just crashes. Additionally, several players have reported difficulties starting event quests or claiming rewards in the Nightveil Hallow event.

While it remains unclear when the next update will arrive, players participating in the Nightveil Hallow event have until November 5 to complete activities and earn Halloween-themed rewards. Throughout the event, players can challenge Baalphazu, the level 66 world boss, to obtain armor pieces, costumes, and Ichor daily. Earned Nightveil Tokens can be exchanged in the event shop for skins, emotes, furniture items, and more.
