Ubisoft has announced a price reduction for the Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed Shadows, now set at $230. This adjustment aligns with the game’s newly revised content model.
When Ubisoft first unveiled this feudal Japan-themed action RPG in May 2024, it promised a season pass and three days of early access as part of its premium editions. However, significant changes occurred when Ubisoft decided to eliminate both the season pass and early access options in September 2024, coinciding with the announcement of a substantial delay for the game. As a result, the company is reevaluating its product pricing strategy, as confirmed by a representative during a late October FAQ on the official Assassin's Creed Discord server. The new suggested retail price for the Collector's Edition is now set at $229.99 for consoles and $229.99 for PC, while the price for European markets is €239.99 for consoles and €229.99 for PC.
Initially, the Collector's Edition was priced at $279.99, but all pre-orders were automatically refunded following the game's delay announcement. Given that the original $280 edition quickly sold out in numerous major markets, the newly priced version is expected to be just as popular and may not remain in stock for long. As of now, Ubisoft has not reopened pre-orders for the game, and there is no official timeline for when they will resume.
While Assassin's Creed Shadows will not feature a season pass, Ubisoft has confirmed plans for post-launch expansions, with two already in the works. The first expansion will be free for players who pre-order the game and is anticipated to release in the latter half of 2025, possibly around the year's end. The game itself is currently scheduled for release on February 14.
The Collector's Edition will come with various day-one content items, including the Sekiryu Dual Pack, which features weapons and gear for both main characters. Additionally, it will include the Sekiryu Hideout Pack, comprising four decorative items for customizing your home base, along with five Mastery Points. These bonuses match the offerings of the game's Ultimate Edition.
Ubisoft cited the need for additional polish as the primary reason for the three-month delay of this action RPG. Furthermore, recent reports suggest that the company is exploring the addition of a co-op mode for Assassin's Creed Shadows, expected to be introduced post-launch.
