Exciting news may be on the horizon for World of Warcraft fans, as speculation suggests a potential collaboration with Mountain Dew. Recent images shared by a fan hint that players could soon earn in-game rewards by purchasing Mountain Dew products, although specific details about the promotion remain elusive.
Long-time players might recall the memorable partnership between World of Warcraft and Mountain Dew back in 2009. This iconic collaboration featured various sweepstakes and giveaways, but the highlight was undoubtedly the special edition bottles and cans, along with a notorious commercial showcasing a poorly rendered CGI Orc and Night Elf battling it out in a supermarket.
It seems that the paths of World of Warcraft and Mountain Dew may be converging once again. A WoW enthusiast, known as Electronic-Garden-16, recently posted several images on Reddit featuring Mountain Dew Game Fuel branded with World of Warcraft themes, including packaging and crates filled with thousands of cans. The leaked images showcased two flavors: Citrus Blackberry, adorned with characters Xal’atath and Alleria, and Citrus Cherry, featuring Thrall and the Lich King. Although Electronic-Garden-16 has since deleted their Reddit account, Wowhead managed to capture and save the leaked visuals.
If this collaboration proves to be legitimate, it is likely to operate in a manner similar to other Mountain Dew Gaming Rewards promotions. Currently, gamers can submit codes found on select products to earn points, which can then be exchanged for physical merchandise, gift cards, or digital rewards for games like Final Fantasy XIV. However, it's worth noting that this program is currently limited to players in the United States, meaning fans in other regions may miss out.
While the authenticity of the leaked images seems credible, Blizzard has yet to confirm this rumored collaboration. Players should remain cautiously optimistic until further information is released. Nevertheless, speculation is already rife regarding the possible rewards from this promotion. Many players are hoping for the previously datamined fel motorcycle mounts, as two of them closely align with the color schemes of the leaked Mountain Dew flavors. If true, these mounts could quickly become some of the most sought-after additions in World of Warcraft.
In the meantime, fans can participate in an ongoing promotion. From now until February 28, 2025, World of Warcraft players who purchase Trolli gummy worms will receive an in-game battle pet—or three different color variants of the Classic Tabard transmog when shopping at Walgreens, Circle K, or Dollar General. This promotion also includes rewards for games like Diablo IV, Sea of Thieves, and The Elder Scrolls Online, so fans of multiple titles should consider stocking up on a few extra bags.
