A recent leak from Honkai: Star Rail has given fans an exciting first look at how the character Sunday will function following his playable debut in the upcoming Version 2.7 update. HoYoverse has been creating buzz with its "drip marketing" strategy for this new patch, officially announcing two highly-anticipated characters: Sunday and Fugue, the latter serving as an alternate version of Tingyun. With this update, players can finally get a glimpse of how one of its standout characters will perform in gameplay.
Sunday has been at the center of numerous rumors regarding his eventual playability in Honkai: Star Rail. Previous leaks indicated that his in-game appearance would undergo a transformation, featuring a much darker outfit compared to his NPC design. Additional early hints suggested that Sunday would serve as a formidable support character within players' teams. Now, the latest teasers are providing fans with an in-depth overview of Sunday’s gameplay mechanics.
A recent update from the well-known HoYoverse leaker, Seele Leaks, has delivered a detailed breakdown of Sunday’s gameplay kit. According to the post, Sunday will feature a low Speed stat, with his Skill allowing an allied character and any associated Summons to take their actions sooner. His Ultimate ability is described as similar to previous leaks, charging an ally's energy while converting any surplus energy into additional energy for that character. The post also indicates that Sunday’s support skills will be influenced by his own ATK, providing buffs to overall damage, ATK, and Crit DMG.
Sunday's kit positions him as a powerful Support option for various team compositions within Honkai: Star Rail. Speculation suggests that he will be especially effective when paired with "hypercarry" characters, enabling players to channel their efforts into a single powerhouse. Additionally, Sunday is expected to synergize well with his sister, Robin, allowing both characters to deliver significant buffs to their team. Sunday is anticipated to launch in the first half of Version 2.7, scheduled for release on December 3.
Sunday’s introduction to Honkai: Star Rail is poised to be one of the most highly-anticipated character launches in the game’s history. He has already played a prominent role in the main story of Penacony and has appeared as a weekly boss in-game during Version 2.2. Leaks also suggest that his boss form will feature in the Apocalyptic Shadow game mode during Version 2.6. As Version 2.7 approaches, it promises to be one of the most thrilling updates in the Penacony cycle, set to launch in early December.
