Krafton has rolled out an exciting new update for PUBG: Battlegrounds, designed to enhance the matchmaking system through a controversial region merge, along with significant alterations to the game's meta. While this decision has sparked debate among fans, particularly regarding ping issues, the developers are proceeding with the consolidation of various regional servers.
Though PUBG: Battlegrounds may not boast the same massive player base it did at launch, it has experienced a steady resurgence in players over recent months. The development team has been committed to keeping the community engaged, recently introducing noteworthy updates, such as Update 31.1, which revamped the Clan System. Now, another substantial update, 32.1, is set to make waves in the battle royale scene.
In a new blog post, Krafton outlined the key features of Update 32.1. A central focus is the region merge, which combines several servers into single groups. For example, North and South America have been merged for PC players, while Oceania and Southeast Asia have formed another consolidated group. Although this limits players' ability to switch servers, the developers have emphasized that the change aims to enhance skill-based matchmaking.
The update also brings a host of adjustments to weapons and attachments. The Muzzle Brake, previously regarded as the most effective attachment in the game, has finally received a long-anticipated nerf, resulting in a noticeable reduction in both horizontal and vertical recoil, as well as camera shake control. Given its dominance in the meta, it will be interesting to see how its viability is affected.
Additionally, several weapons have undergone modifications: the MG3 and DBS have been buffed, while the P90 and Mk14 have received nerfs. Fans of the FAMAS will be pleased to know that the update introduces greater customization options, with the QuickDraw Mag, Extended Mag, and Ext. QuickDraw Mag now compatible with the weapon.
Moreover, the Recall system is set for a significant overhaul. Flights will now occur every two and a half minutes instead of once per phase, leading to a slight increase in the total number of flights. However, it's worth noting that flights will not spawn after phase 7. The update also introduces a new arcade mode titled "Hungers Left Behind," which follows a similar concept to "Survivors Left Behind" but ramps up the difficulty.
Given the popularity of past modes like PUBG: Battlegrounds' Fantasy Battle Royale, the community is eager to explore what "Hungers Left Behind" has in store. In addition to these major updates, players can expect a range of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, further enhancing their gaming experience.
