During the studio's latest developer livestream, Bungie confirmed that Act 2 of Destiny 2 Episode: Echoes will launch on Tuesday, July 16 with the upcoming weekly reset. In Echoes Act 2, Destiny 2 players will head back to Nessus as the story unfolds, and new areas become accessible in the episode's Battlegrounds activities. Destiny 2's final season, Season of the Wish, officially came to an end with the launch of the Final Shape expansion, which served as the conclusion to the Light and Darkness saga. On June 11, Bungie released the first-ever Episode of Destiny 2, Echoes. In the first Act of the new episode, players attempt to discover the meaning of Echoes, strange and powerful matter scattered across the solar system. Nessus reacts to the Echoes, prompting Guardians, Osiris, and Saint-14 to team up with Failsafe to find out what's happening on the planet. Act 2 will continue the story following the revelations from Act 1's ending, which saw Saint-14 encounter a mysterious villain known as the Conductor.

Destiny 2's Echoes Act 2 update will introduce a wealth of new content for players beyond the core story and Battleground activities. This includes the addition of powerful new legendary weapons like the Abberant Action sidearm and Corrasion pulse rifle, as well as the return of the iconic Perfect Paradox shotgun. Furthermore, the artifact system will be expanded with five new perks, including Anti-Barrier Sniper Rifle and Solar Fumination. Bungie has also announced a 30% damage buff for Tex Mechanica scout rifles, including the popular Dead Man's Tale Exotic, in PvE activities during the Echoes Act 2 update.

The Destiny 2 community can look forward to the return of the beloved annual Solstice event, which will take place during the Echoes Act 2 update. While Bungie has not yet provided full details on this year's Solstice festivities, the developer did share new concept art showcasing the Warlock, Titan, and Hunter Solstice armor sets.

Additionally, Bungie has announced a significant change in the storytelling approach for the Echoes narrative. In contrast to the weekly story beats seen in Echoes Act 1, the entirety of Act 2 and Act 3 will be available to players upon launch. This shift in pacing is a direct response to player feedback, as the weekly release schedule for Echoes Act 1 was identified as a point of contention among the community. Bungie aims to provide a more cohesive and accessible narrative experience with the revised approach for the subsequent Acts of the Echoes storyline.
