This is an engaging card game that combines strategy and luck and is usually played in a social setting. Players compete against each other, usually using standard decks of cards, aiming to win tricks or points according to specific rules. The game has multiple variations that allow for different play styles and tactics.
Gameplay:
Dealing:The dealer shuffles the deck and deals 4 cards face down to each player. The remaining deck is placed face down in the center to form the draw pile. The top card of the draw pile is turned face up to start the discard pile.
Turn Order:Play proceeds clockwise. On a player's turn, they must play one card from their hand onto the discard pile.
Playing Cards:Players take turns playing one card from their hand. The played card must follow these rules:
If the top card of the discard pile is a face card (Jack, Queen, or King), the next card played must also be a face card.
If the top card is a number card (2-10), the next card played must match either the rank or the suit of the top card.
If a player does not have a suitable card to play, they can draw one card from the draw pile. If the drawn card can be played, they must do so; otherwise, their turn ends.
Capturing Cards:When a player plays a card that matches the rank or suit of the top card on the discard pile, they capture the pile. They then place these cards face down in front of them to score later.
Drawing and Discarding:After capturing the cards, the player draws enough cards from the draw pile to bring their hand back up to four cards. If the draw pile is empty, reshuffle the discard pile (excluding the top card) to form a new draw pile.
Ending the Round:The round continues until all cards have been captured. At the end of each round, players count the points from the cards they have captured.
Scoring:
Face Cards: Jacks are worth 11 points, Queens are worth 12 points, Kings are worth 13 points, and Aces are worth 15 points.
Number Cards: Cards from 2 to 10 are worth their face value in points.
Winning the Game:
The game continues for a predetermined number of rounds or until a player reaches a target score (often 101 points). The player with the highest total score at the end of the game wins.
