I am not paying my subscription for you to remove random connections. Either add them back (and not in this "you must connect to it first" recents manner), or lose another customer. EDIT: I've reached out to support and requested for them to cancel my subscription and delete all my account data if they don't have immediate plans to bring this back.

Like others, I had been using Proton VPN for a few years now - the free plan, no problem. But rather than select your own server now, you're forced into 1, automatic server which sometimes isn't even fast. It's still ad free, but it's such a worse experience now. Other reviews also have the same response from the develop - probably copied and pasted - which makes me assume nothing will change. I'm going to have to find a new VPN now. Edit: The server switch wait went from 2 to 20 minutes...

Recently, the app has been disconnecting frequently. Paying over 200 dollars a year is a steep price to pay for inconsistent features when You say 'VPN Accelerator'. The app on Streaming devices does NOT work when connected. Right when I connect to Netflix it detects that I am connected to a VPN. App states it's Private . IF ANY APP DETECTS A VPN, THE VPN IS NOT DOING WHAT I PAID FOR. I don't want to deter ANYONE from Understanding that PRIVACY IS OUR BASIC HUMAN RIGHT.

When I checked the description of the App it informs that the free version doesn't have VPN Accelerator anymore, it's only for the Premium version, it was for both versions last time I checked, that was one of the reasons that I took in consideration to use this app, it's not there anymore, and maybe that's why speeds clog and throttles after 20 minutes of watching 4k HDR content on YouTube, you need to fix that, there's no fun in changing servers each time that happens.

It was perfect before the last update. There was only one server that always worked, but now I can't choose it. Now, when there is only automatic connection to a random server left, it just doesn't work. The only thing I see is "Connection failed" error. UPD. I don't know what happened, but now it works. Maybe there was an update that fixed the "Connection failed" error. And now it really fast and successfully connects to the random server.

It was fine for a while but the recent updates keep removing useful features and locking them behind premium. It's annoying, especially when a server you get connected to is blocked by whatever service you want to use so you have to wait to try a new one with no control over what you get anymore.

No longer free to choose country at will. I live in asia and always using either EU (Netherlands) or US. It always connect me to Japan now, which render this app unusable. Changing location has timer on its button. Almost impossible or time consumming to be able to connect to EU (Netherlands) or US. And split tunneling feature suddenly become inaccessible for free user. Have to search for the replacement now... Damn you! F U!

You say you removed the features to get optimal latency, but the vpn feels a lot slower. Not only that but adding more countries that no one needs just makes it harder to get the country that you want. There is rarely anything I would ever need to connect to Poland for. I would rather use a vpn with ads rather than this because the ads only appear when the app is open which is infrequent with a vpn app. And I don't know why you removed ikev2.

VPN experience overal: good, solid and fast (so far). One thing that I would want to see improved: Netshield. It would be nice to be able to see information about the ads and trackers being blocked. Also, compared to the (free) DuckDuckGo's App Tracking Protection, Netshield seems to block a lot less trackers, on top of not giving a lot of information. Hope to see improvements in this area in the near future!
