Update 2/26/24: The latest update includes "When opening a chat with many unread messages, we now scroll to the earliest unread message for convenience." NOT a good feature as it shows data from earlier texts in the notifications even when I've already read them. I now have to actually open notifications to see the most recent. Very inconvenient! Renders the purpose of them useless. 3/6/21 - great texting app. allows delayed sending. customized settings available for individual contacts.

This is the best texting app I've used so far. Hopefully they will soon add more customization options like additional colors, the option to add backgrounds to conversations, and the option to change the personalization on individual conversations. Those are the features I miss the most from the (now abandoned) Samsung messaging app.

I have to say that I LOVE Textra and have used this on my devices for many years. I love the customisability and being colour coordinated with my contacts really helps. I have eye health issues, and my colour coding system let's me see at a glance if the message is vital (hospital/medical appointments), Or if it's chit chat with my friends. No offense, friends!! Customer service is great, and response time fast. Definitely recommend Textra, I couldn't be without it now

Having used Google's Messages in the past, I am delighted to come back to Textra. I like the search function that allows searching all messages. This is not available on Google's Messages!!! How the Kings of Search would have no search feature through all messages stumps me. I also like the extensive customization options in Textra. I highly recommend it! Try it. You will love it!

I haven't used this app in years. I've always liked that I can customize vibration patterns for my contacts. My only issue is that when my ringer is on, I don't need to use the customized vibration. I only want to use it when my phone is on vibrate. I have to go to each contact to turn it off which is inconvenient. You use to be able to use the customized vibration pattern when your phone was on vibrate without having to turn it off when the ringer is on. I guess that feature has changed.

Used to have some nuisance issues with ad positioning but seems friendlier now. I've stuck with Textra and haven't found a better SMS client. The Blocklist has awkward menu options making it really easy to irretrievably delete a long, valuable text history on accident. So if you sometimes need to block an annoying but close friend, be warned. Also sometimes fails to create notifications if you only recently closed a conversation, so you'll just have to catch it later.

This is the only messaging app I found that was able to display the SMS and MMS messages that I transferred from my old phone to my new Samsung. The Samsung Messages app wouldn't display 90% of my old messages, nothing more than a month old. Neither would the Google messaging app nor the Verizon Messages+ app. The customer service for Samsung and Verizon were useless, only Textra could retrieve and display the SMS messages moved onto my new phone. I'd give Textra six stars if I could.

So far, so good! I downloaded this because Google Messenger was malfunctioning (giving super quiet notifications, so I would miss them). I'm enjoying the customizable features. The scheduling feature is quite handy for me, since I do shift work. The only thing I miss is being able to archive messages.
